Hi,
if I wanted to change the Minimum Password Length for the entire database where do I go to achieve this. I am a database manager and went into the database properties and clicked on the Login Policy Tab, however I don't see this option available.

In DOORS 8.2 at least, it's in the Password tab not the Login Policy tab...

Could there be any reason why this option is not available in any of the tabs in my database?

In the Passwords tab I have "Number of days before password expires" but it's grayed out.

On the Database Properties dialog >>Password tab I see "Minimum number of characters" field. That's the default field for newly created users. Each user has her own field which does not change when you modify the database properties field.

I'm very sorry I asked the question wrong, it's not the password length, I'm looking for the password expiration length.
So sorry :-(

It seems again to be a default, and yes its gray'd out even for the Administrator. commands
getDatabaseMaximumLifetime() and setDatabaseMaximumLifetime(0)
appear to change it, but I see its still gray'd out with value zero on the properties and a new user still has zero days. I'm guessing they just don't want to use it anymore.

The Passwords expire after option is only available if you have configured the database to use the Rational Directory Server as your method for managing & authenticating user accounts.
I recall it was first introduced aon or around DOORS version 8.2 when Telelogic made DOORS compatible with it's Telelogic Directory Server (TDS) in an attempt to provide a single LDAP solution for all of it's products such as their Synergy product range.

Ok so then there is no way to change the expiration of passwords for the database unless you manually do it everytime you add a user?
